Configuring Mac OS Eudora 4.0
- Before you start, you will need to know your complete email address.
Contact the computer staff if you don't know this information.
- Start up Eudora. If you don't have Eudora....you guessed it: contact the
computer staff.
- Go to the Special menu on your menubar.
- Pull down and select Settings, then click on the Getting
Started icon to the left.
- In this first window, you should enter three pieces of information:
- Your Real Name. This is just your full name, including normal spaces and capitalization.
- Your Username - your network username, which
is the same as your return address without the "@ucsd.edu" or
"@psy.ucsd.eud."
- Your Mail Host: psy.ucsd.edu.
NOTE: If your mail
account is NOT on psy, then you need to use that server's name
here ("sdcc3.ucsd.edu"
or "cogsci.ucsd.edu," etc.)
This is the same as your Incoming mail server.
- Click on the Hosts icon to your left. (The Your Mail
field fills in automatically.)
- SMTP: smtp.ucsd.edu.
- Directory Services: ucsd.edu.
- Finger: ucsd.edu.
- Do not check the DNS Load Balancing box!
This is all that you need to do to configure Eudora! The other configuration options are just that - options.
You may now check your mail by selecting the Check mail
item from the File menu if desired, or send mail by
selecting the New Message item from the Messages menu.
